OneGuard Home Warranty FAQ's, Arizona, Texas

When stuff breaks, the last thing you need is another lost Saturday fixing your sprinklers or worse, climbing up on the roof to "inspect" your heat pump.

That's why a OneGuard Home Warranty is so valuable. It's there when you need it. But sometimes it's not always clear what's covered or how the process works. So here are a few commonly asked questions to help you feel better.

Um, what's a home warranty?

You can admit it. We understand you have better things to do than worry about how home warranties work. But when you need it, it's sure nice to know it's there to fall back on. Fact is, a home warranty picks up where your homeowners insurance leaves off. It protects you from the cost of unexpected household expenses (Think: AC/heating unit, washer/dryer, etc.) When they stop working due to normal wear and tear.

What does my OneGuard Home Warranty cover?

That's a fair question. After all, when your A/C quits on a 115 degree day, it's no laughing matter. Specifics can be found by reviewing the sample contract on our Plans & Prices page.
Our basic Essential Plan covers normal wear-and-tear breakdowns on:

  • Air conditioning and heating system
  • Plumbing systems
  • Plumbing stoppages, toilets
  • Sump pump (permanently installed)
  • Recirculating hot water pumps
  • Water heaters
  • Electrical systems
  • Central vacuum systems
  • Garage door openers
  • Ceiling fans
  • Exhaust fans
  • Dishwashers
  • Ranges
  • Ovens
  • Cook tops
  • Built-in microwaves
  • Trash compactors and pest control services.
Plans and coverage vary. See your customized contract for details.

What's NOT covered?

At OneGuard, we go out of our way to honor your claim with fast service and follow-through. Overall, a home warranty is limited to providing repair or replacement coverage on items when they break down due to normal wear and tear. That's why proper use and care of covered systems and appliances is so important. Learn more here. In addition, non-mechanical parts or components that don't contribute to primary functions of systems or appliances are excluded.

Does my OneGuard Home Warranty cover pre-existing conditions?

Yes! In fact, we're the only home warranty that covers all unknown pre-existing conditions, such as rust and corrosion, lack of maintenance, shoddy repair work and mismatched systems. A standard home inspection or OneGuard mechanical inspection is required for this feature. Home inspections are not required on standard contracts.

Help! I need service. What do I need to do?

Just pick up the phone and call us right away. We'll answer. And we won't put you on hold. You'll speak with a customer care professional who understands that you need help fast. In Arizona, call 602-993-5911 or toll-free in Texas at (888) 758-9729. You can also request service online. When a covered item breaks down, OneGuard will take care of all parts and labor necessary to fix the problem. If we can't fix it, we'll replace it with a new, name-brand product with comparable features. Yeah, really.

I'm concerned that some creepy guy will show up at my house. Who handles the repairs?

Don't worry. We're extremely selective when it comes to partnering with safe, top-notch professionals; reputable, knowledgeable contractors who actually know what they're doing. Local, licensed and pre-screened to ensure fast, friendly and reliable service at every visit. See contract for service fee details.

What if I want to use my own repairman? Can I be reimbursed?

For quality control standards, we typically don't reimburse for work performed by an unauthorized contractor. It's one more way we ensure you receive the best service around. Only work authorized and arranged by OneGuard is covered by our home warranty plans.

My A/C is out and my house is heating up fast. How are these types of emergencies handled?

Unlike other home warranty companies, we have procedures in place to ensure expedited service when extreme conditions hit. 24-hour emergency service is available for conditions that threaten your safety, such as interior flooding, interior sewer back-ups, and complete electrical failures.

I love OneGuard. Can I buy a home warranty that provides more than just one year of coverage?

Sure. You can purchase up to 5 years of coverage. Just give our office a call and we'll set it up. Then you can be sure you're protected for the long haul. You can even add additional coverage if your appliances are in good shape. Some restrictions may apply.
